Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in Development Guideline -การลดความเสี่ยงจากภัยพิบัติสู่การพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน

December 22, 2014

Building upon the Disaster Risk Reduction Handbook in Thai published in December 2013, UNDP Thailand and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation under the ‘Strengthening Disaster Management Capacities in Thailand’ project teamed up with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center and produced the second handbook in the series to introduce DRR in development context to Thai sectors, ministries and general public.

This Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in Development Guideline (in Thai การลดความเสี่ยงจากภัยพิบัติสู่การพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน) focuses on bridging DRR concepts with mainstream development initiatives as well as highlighting how DRR is relevant to specific development sector and providing examples on which activities within these line sectors constitute DRR.  The book emphasises the key fact that while disaster can set back development, development initiatives can in turn help reduce existing and future disaster risks. Such incorporation of DRR initiatives within mainstreamed development sectors is surely a must to ensure of Thailand's increasing resilience to disasters.
